Plot : Rattan or Ratan is a 1944 Indian Bollywood film starring Swaran Lata, Karan Dewan and Amir Banu. It was the highest grossing Indian film of 1944 and is cited as an "All Time Blockbuster".[1] The film is noted as the film which made Naushad one of the top contributors to music in Indian films and enabled him to demand a fee of Rs 25000 a film.The heroine of the movie Swaran Lata had said in a live interview with the PTV that the tunes of the songs of Rattan were set by the lyricist D. N. Madhok himself.Film expert and author Rajesh Subramanian opines that Kardar production spent rupees seventy five thousand in 1944 to make ‘Rattan’. The music by Naushadsaab was such a phenomenal hit that the company earned Rs 3 lacs as royalty from Gramophone sales in the first year.
