Taxi Driver is a nostalgic journey through the Bombay of the 50s. The story take you to the era when Bombay had its quiet, peaceful and scenic atmosphere, electric trams, and a unique taxi driver, Mangal (Dev Anand), who is referred to as Hero by his friends. Mangal drives a cab by day, then drinks at night, listens to his singer girlfriend, Sylvie (Sheila Ramani) and then goes into a drunken stupor. One day, he comes to the assistance of a damsel in distress Mala (Kalpana Kartik), being molested by two thugs. What happens when their friendship blossoms into romance with a new twist added to it?
