On India Upfront With Rahul Shivshankar tonight, Anyone with a patriotic bone in their body would swell with pride on seeing the Tiranga unfold at Lal Chowk in the heart of Srinagar on Independence day. In 1992, on Republic day, Narendra Modi and then President of the BJP, Murli Manohar Joshi managed to unfurl the flag at the height of the militancy that was raging in the valley. This tradition was maintained by the CRPF and other units of the paramilitary right up till about 2011. But soon after it was discontinued under the UPA and the National Conference government. According to sources, the Centre is preparing for a massive celebration with Lal Chowk as the main theatre. Centre has big plans for Independence Day in Srinagar I-day, but opposition opposes and says, ‘don’t provoke people’. Is patriotism a provocation? We ask - Why is the opposition Communalising a celebration the pays homage to a symbol of India’s independence? #TirangaAtLalChowk Subscribe to Times Now | Click Here ► http://goo.gl/U9ibPb Log on to www.timesnownews.com for the latest news & updates.
